Almost two years after the Barefoot Camping Resort closed, the North Beach Plantation towers under construction in its place are 90 percent pre-sold, said developer David Stradinger, owner of Winchester Land and Development Corp.
The North Beach Towers project is costing $150 million just for construction with eight banks lending money, Stradinger said. "The uniqueness is just its size," he said, as well as the upscale Georgian architecture on a resort with a spa and a two-and-a-half acre pool area with swim-up bar.
Units are priced from the mid $500,000s to $2 million. Stradinger said 62 percent of those who have purchased are Carolinas residents. "This is an unusually high percentage and indicates more of a second-home-buyer profile," he said.
The bridge connecting the two towers, which will hold a restaurant, costs $8 million. The towers will top out in December and be completed in December 2008. North Beach Plantation
